Prototype I was shown at Swiss Institute, New York, as part of the exhibition 'None Of The Above', curated by John Armleder. The exhibition featured works that were of extremely reduced size, or that otherwise disappeared in the context of the gallery's architecture.
A poster was designed featuring an image of night traffic in a city centre superimposed with the legend 'Open 24 Hours'. The poster was printed, then repeatedly folded and distressed over a period of time, before being re-photographed and printed 1:1 scale with the original.
The print was exhibited in Swiss Institute's lobby display case, the type that normally shows the opening hours and directory of the building, but which the gallery used as an additional exhibition space.
